New plans have been unveiled for the redevelopment of South Miami’s Sunset Place that would bring residential units, a new hotel and revived/newly-designed street retail.
Located in the downtown area of South Miami, The Shops at Sunset Place has been an integral part of South Miami’s business district for almost 20 years now. Sunset Place was purchased last year, in 2015, by Federal Realty Investment Trust, Comras Company and Grass River Property for $110M. Since the purchase, the new owners have hired well-known firm Zyscovich Architects to design an overall redevelopment of the 500,000-square-foot outdoor shopping mall. The new plans will revitalize the mall and transform the 10-acre site into a mini urban center to live, eat, shop and play, bringing some fresh energy to the area. The plans are said to include 2 residential towers with approximately 414 units, a hotel with approximately 182 rooms and newly-designed ground floor retail.
